HarianLampung.co.id – Sorta Delima Lumban Tobing, the Head of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights Office in Lampung Province, handed over 42 patent certificates to universities, research institutions, and entrepreneurs through the Patent One Stop Service.
The Patent One Stop Service is a regular program from the Directorate General of Intellectual Property that aims to expedite domestic patent applications and increase the number of patent applications,” said Sorta in Bandarlampung on Tuesday.
Sorta explained that in Lampung Province, from 2020 to 2024, there were 160 registered patents. This number is still relatively low compared to the population of over 9 million people in the 15 districts and cities of Lampung Province.
This indicates that the potential for patent registration in Lampung Province is still vast, in line with the continuous development of the province.
Various inventions from inventors need to be encouraged for the progress of Lampung and the benefit of the community.
“The process of patent registration takes quite a long time, with many applications abandoned halfway. The recognition given to these 42 individuals who have completed all the procedures for patent registration is expected to inspire and motivate others to do the same,” he said.
Sorta added that one of the common challenges faced by inventors in patent registration is the preparation of descriptive documents, as inventors must be able to describe their inventions in narrative form.
Sorta explained that in Lampung Province, there are currently around 120 inventors who have the potential to register their patents, but they are still struggling with the preparation of descriptive documents, which is a requirement for registration.
“Therefore, we from the Ministry of Law and Human Rights Office in Lampung Province welcome the Patent One Stop Service program from the Directorate General of Intellectual Property to provide direct assistance to inventors from the preparation of descriptions, submission of applications, to the provision of necessary completeness documents,” said Sorta.
He hoped that in the future, the Patent One Stop Service program could significantly increase the number of patent registrations in Lampung Province.
